First, but foremost.. Are you interested in killing corvids? THINK…before you kill another creature. Do you really want to kill an intelligent animal?
What is your motive? They scream? They poop? They eat?…. Isn’t that something you do with?
We are ruining the entire planet. Do we really have to kill animals too, do you think? If the answer is yes, please leave the page and never come back. You are not welcome here.

But now.. the rules as I found them (sources at the bottom):

There is general hunting for a number of corvids in the country. Species that may be hunted are, for example, jackdaws, rooks, crows, jackdaws and magpies. Hunting times differ slightly between species and depending on where in the country you live. In order to hunt during general hunting hours, you need a hunting license. More often than not, you have hunting rights on the land you own.

Below are general hunting times for the jackdaw, rook, crow, jackdaw and magpie:

  • Nutskrika (the whole country): 21 August – 10 March
  • Rook (only in Skåne and Halland counties): 21 July – 31 January
  • Crow, jackdaw, magpie (Västernorrland, Jämtland, Västerbotten and Norrbotten counties): 16 July – 30 April
  • Crow, jackdaw, magpie (rest of the country): July 1 – April 15

There is also a type of hunting called forprotective hunting on individual initiative. It is hunting that hunting license holders are allowed to conduct to prevent damage from game. The hunt is regulated by Appendix 4 of the Hunting Ordinance and may only take place under the condition that the conditions stated there are met. The conditions are different for different species. Anyone who hunts with the support of Appendix 4 does not need to apply for a special permit.

Rook, crow, jackdaw and magpie may be hunted for protection on their own initiative all year round in the following situations:

  • At airports, with regard to flight safety. (This also applies to the raven).
  • In a facility, to prevent damage or other inconvenience there
  • On land with agricultural crops or used for commercial horticulture, if the animals there cause damage to crops and cultivation
  • If the hunt takes place on behalf of the municipal committee(s) that fulfill tasks in the area of environmental and health protection

If it is not general hunting time and none of the situations listed above are met, you need to apply for protected hunting at the county administrative board. In order for the county administrative board to grant permission for protective hunting, there must be a risk of serious injury and there must be no other suitable solutions than hunting.

In summary:

  • Holders of hunting rights may hunt during general hunting hours
  • Outside general hunting hours, it is possible to carry out protective hunting on your own initiative to prevent damage, provided that one of the conditions in Appendix 4 of the Hunting Ordinance is met
  • Hunting for the purpose of preventing damage outside the general public in any situation other than those listed in Appendix 4 requires an application to the county administrative board. Special conditions must be met for the application to be granted.

All hunting, regardless of whether it is hunting during general hunting time or protected hunting, must follow the laws and regulations surrounding hunting. For example, it is not permitted to cause unnecessary suffering to the game or to put people in danger.
