- Defend the corvids in your municipality when there is “protection hunting” (the hunters don’t protect anyone though:/ ). Be sure to bring others along in case you are threatened. An e-mail to the municipality, the county administration or the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is not enough, but it is still important to do this because then they will have a headwind.
Most of the time, unfortunately, you only get a robot response back because “they follow the rules”.
Expect aggressive hunters when you disturb them in their private killing spree. Don’t be aggressive back. It doesn’t help anything.
- Talk about corvids well with everyone you know. Write on Facebook!
–> Crows (all species!) spread seeds both in cities and in the countryside. Other animal species can thus gain access to plants they need for their survival. There is plenty of research on this. Thanks to Johan Elmberg and August Heintze who spread this info within Sweden.

- Be against hunting crows! Crows get killed by stupid people because they think it’s necessary. Yeah, I’m not hiding what I think about this. There is NO excuse for killing wild birds out in the wild. NO.
Do everything you can to eliminate hunting of corvids in your municipality and also in the country. Take it up with a politician, take it up with your municipality, start a foundation,… There are many different ways to improve the situation.
- Support us. We at Rook.se have spent 10,000 kroner on corvids in Sweden (while hunters keep killing birds as if it were a game:/ ) We are starting up an animal rehabilitation facility for corvids. - Support anti-hunting organizations that exist. I can recommendJaktkritikerna.sebecause they try to change laws which are then dealt with by the authorities.
